Whales in Anacortes WA: Who We Saw


The last week of May brought us all the orcas, humpbacks, and grays

Species Seen This Week


Killer Whale - Total: 56

Humpback Whale - Total: 11

Gray Whale - Total: 4


Individual Whales Seen This Week

Killer Whale:


We encountered orcas 8 times and identified 14 individuals across 4 matrilines.


These included:


  • T30s (T30A & T30C)

  • T75Bs

  • T123s

  • T124A4s



Humpback Whale:


We encountered humpback whales 6 times, and of the 4 individuals seen, we identified 2 of them.


These included:


  • Chi

  • Hunchback (nickname)


Gray Whale:


We encountered 1 gray whales 4 time.


The individual was identified as:


  • Paul (nickname) 


Highlights from Anacortes Whale Watching Tours

In addition to whales, our guests also enjoyed sightings of several other iconic Pacific Northwest species, including:


  • Double-crested Cormorant's

  • Harbor seals

  • Stellar Sea lions

  • Dexter the sea otter


Across ten tours, our guests traveled to a variety of places across the Salish Sea including Deception Pass state park, Active Pass, and Bird Island.
