Humpbacks to ID!

It was an amazing day out there! We came across two Humpback whales feeding, and were able to identify them as BCY1062 "Solar," and BCX0854 "Europa." This is the first day we've seen them this year!

How are we able to ID them? The underside of a Humpback's tail has markings, scars, barnacles and coloring specific to that individual. A quick Google search on Humpback whale identification guides will get you a free PDF download. Then, it's just waiting for them to sound and show the underside of their tail, take a photo and compare it to the ID guide.
